Abstract

The process of obtaining titanium dioxide TiO2 by electrochemical anodizing has been studied. Electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, BET, and EDAX analyzes the growth kinetics, chemical composition, structural characteristics, and grain size of the obtained titanium dioxide films. It has been established that with an increase in the magnitude of voltage and current, the growth rate and, accordingly, the size of the formed grains of titanium dioxide increase. The conditions for the formation of titanium dioxide films consisting of grains of polymorphic modification of anatase containing excess oxygen vacancies are revealed. The excess of defects in the form of oxygen vacancies increases the efficiency of adsorption of molecules of organic compounds on the surface of the obtained titanium dioxide, which makes it possible to use them as a sensitive element in gas sensors.
