Abstract

The effect of treatment in a low-pressure dc discharge on the surface properties of polyfluoroolefine films was exam-ined. Surface characteristics of modified films were investigated by means of the contact angle measurements, XPS, FTIRspectroscopy and T-test. It was shown that dc discharge treatment of polyfluoroolefine films results in significant decrease of contact angles, improvement of adhesion properties, defluorination of surface layer and creation of new oxygen-containing groups. The mechanism of interaction between the dc discharge and the surface of polyfluoroolefine films was suggested.
