Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study of the method of capacitive deionization of aqueous solutions (CDI) with commercial carbon materials. For activated carbon materials, the maximum specific surface area was 2060 m2/g, in particular for Kuraray YP 80F. It was found that the greatest salt removal efficiency is achieved at the lowest salt concentrations. Compared to other carbon materials that were tested, Kuraray YP 80F was the most effective material providing the highest adsorption capacity, which was 6 mg/g. Additionally investigated the pH of the outlet solution during adsorption. In particular, the pH of the solution, depending on the adsorption time at various concentrations of the solution, varies in the range of 6.5 to 4.5.
